FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

BOOKING AND GETTING STARTED

Q: How do I book lessons with JPKAIZEN?

A: Head to the JPKAIZEN website, choose the lesson pack that suits your goals, and complete your purchase. Once payment is confirmed you will be contacted to schedule your first session.

Q: Do I need any experience to start?

A: No. JPKAIZEN works with all levels from complete beginners through to advanced learners preparing for JLPT N1. Your first session will include an assessment to understand where you are and what you want to achieve.

Q: How quickly can I get started after purchasing?

A: Usually within a few days. Once your payment is confirmed JPKAIZEN will reach out to arrange your first session at a time that works for you.

Q: What do I need for lessons?

A: A device with a working camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a Google account to access Google Meet. That is all you need to get started.

LESSONS AND STRUCTURE

Q: How long is each lesson?

A: Every lesson is 50 minutes.

Q: How often should I have lessons?

A: That depends on your goals and schedule. One lesson a week is great for steady consistent progress. Two lessons a week is recommended if you want to move faster or are working toward a JLPT exam. The 15-lesson pack is designed with more intensive learners in mind.

Q: Will every lesson follow a set structure or is it flexible?

A: Both. JPKAIZEN builds a custom study plan around your goals from the start so there is always a clear direction and progression. Within that framework lessons adapt to what you need on a given week — whether that is grammar, conversation, reading, exam prep, or something you encountered and want to understand better.

Q: What happens after each lesson?

A: You will receive lesson notes summarising what was covered, along with vocabulary and grammar resources to review and practise before the next session. These are yours to keep and revisit any time.

Q: Are lessons taught in Japanese, English, or both?

A: Both. One of the key advantages of JPKAIZEN is that the tutor is a native speaker of both Japanese and English. Explanations can be given in English when needed, especially for beginners, while gradually increasing the amount of Japanese used in lessons as your level grows.

PACKS AND PRICING

Q: Which lesson pack should I choose?

A: If you are just starting out or want to try things before committing, the 5-lesson pack is a low-pressure way to begin. If you are ready to commit to consistent weekly study, the 10-lesson pack is the most popular choice. If you are serious about making fast progress or preparing for JLPT, the 15-lesson pack gives you the best value and the most structured runway.

Q: Do unused lessons carry over if I do not finish my pack in time?

A: No. Each pack has a validity window — 1 month for 5 lessons, 2 months for 10, and 3 months for 15. Lessons must be used within that period. If you are falling behind on scheduling, contact JPKAIZEN early and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Q: Can I upgrade my pack mid-way through?

A: Contact JPKAIZEN directly and this can be discussed. Upgrades are handled on a case by case basis.

Q: Will the price change after I purchase?

A: No. Once you have purchased a pack the price is locked in. Any future pricing changes only apply to new purchases.

CANCELLATIONS AND RESCHEDULING

Q: What if I need to cancel or move a lesson?

A: Give at least 24 hours notice via Instagram or your agreed messaging channel and the lesson will be rescheduled at no charge. Less than 24 hours notice or a no-show means the lesson is marked as used.

Q: What if JPKAIZEN needs to cancel a lesson?

A: You will be notified as early as possible and the session will be rescheduled at a time convenient for you. If rescheduling is not possible a credit will be added to your pack.

Q: I missed a lesson without giving notice. Can I get it back?

A: Unfortunately no. The 24-hour cancellation policy exists to protect the tutor's time and schedule. Lessons missed without adequate notice are forfeited as outlined in the Terms and Conditions.

REFUNDS

Q: Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

A: Yes, within 7 days of purchase and before any lesson has taken place. After the 7-day window has passed or once a lesson has been delivered, refunds are no longer available. To request a refund contact JPKAIZEN directly before the window closes.

Q: I have had one lesson and want to stop. Can I get a partial refund for the remaining sessions?

A: Partial refunds for unused lessons within an active pack are not offered once the service has begun. Please review the refund policy carefully before purchasing.

JLPT PREPARATION

Q: Can JPKAIZEN help me prepare for the JLPT?

A: Yes. JLPT preparation is available for all levels.

Your study plan can be built entirely around exam preparation if that is your goal, and mock tests with written feedback are included as part of the service where relevant.

Q: How long will it take me to pass a certain JLPT level?

A: This depends heavily on your starting point, how frequently you study, and how much practice you do outside of lessons. JPKAIZEN will give you an honest assessment of where you are and a realistic timeline, but cannot guarantee a specific result or pass rate.

COMMUNICATION AND SUPPORT

Q: Can I contact the tutor between lessons?

A: Yes. Instagram and direct messaging support is included between sessions for questions, quick clarifications, or anything that comes up in your self-study. This is not a 24/7 service but messages are responded to within a reasonable timeframe.

Q: What if I am struggling or feel like lessons are not working for me?

A: Say so. JPKAIZEN adapts to you. If the pace, style, or content is not landing, raise it and the approach will be adjusted. Monthly progress reviews are also built in precisely so that you can reflect on what is working and what needs to change.
